AGDQ is well known for its bidding wars, where donations can be made to name characters of certain playthroughs, influence certain routes, or showcase extra speed-running exhibitions. Two of this marathon’s biggest bidding wars centered upon the name of the player’s horse in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (the name “Rochefort” won with $50,792.81 in total donations) and whether or not to save the baby Yoshis in Super Dram World 2. This time around, the donors opted to not save the Yoshis ($75,058.35 to $67,380.92) in favor of a faster completion of the game.

The money raised in this marathon will go to The Prevent Cancer Foundation. Since the marathon’s inception, AGDQ has raised over $14.6 million for charities, including Doctors Without Borders, AbleGamers, and the Houston Food Bank, among other worthy causes.
